Balenciaga And Crocs Rekindle A Partnership That Started In 2017

Balenciaga and Crocs have created the comfort shoes of our dreams.

Balenciaga has had a good run (see what we did there?) with Crocs. Who can forget the pin-studded platform clogs the two brands released in 2017? Four years on, they are at it again with an outing dubbed Crocs 2.0 which just hit shelves and the brand’s e-commerce site.

The footwear series which is part of Balenciaga’s spring 2022 collection boasts a pair of wellington boots dubbed Crocs Boot and a pair of mules called Crocs Madame that is fixed with an 80mm heel.

The launch of Crocs 2.0 couldn’t have come at a better time for the footwear company known for the longest time for its comfortable foam-like kicks and anti-fashion status – Time magazine labelled it as one of the “50 Worst Inventions” in 2010.

That was until folks like Christopher Kane, Post Malone and Chinatown Market came knocking for collaborations. News reports this week revealed how Crocs is having a moment with revenue for its fiscal year in 2021 growing between 62% and 65% from 2020 levels.

To mark the launch of Crocs 2.0, Balenciaga has tapped Berlin-based visual artist Anna Uddenberg to create two life-sized surrealist sculptures that blur the lines between the familiar and the alien.

The artworks are dressed in upcycled Balenciaga materials and Crocs 2.0 designs and feature a woman with a stroller as well as a person sprawled on the ground wearing a baby carrier. These installations will be displayed at Balenciaga’s Sloane Street and Madison Avenue boutiques.

While you can't catch them IRL, you can cop the shoes they’re wearing nonetheless. Scroll on for a quick look at the options in store.
