BAZAAR hosted a private event at the newly opened Casa Loewe, shining the spotlight on the Spanish house’s latest Ken Price capsule collection and leather marquetry—a technique that displays the expertise of leather artisans. Associate Fashion Director Jeffrey Yan brought participants into the creative mind of Jonathan Anderson, who was inspired by a series of hand-painted ceramic plates that pioneering American Artist Ken Price created for La Palme restaurant in Newport Beach in the early ’80s. Guests also tried their hand at crafting their own leather patch at the marquetry workshop.
Featuring four main motifs: La Palme, Easter Island, L.A. Series and Happy’s Curios, the capsule collection translates the artist’s playful drawings into prints, intarsia, and leather marquetry on ready-to-wear pieces and iconic bags. The exuberant, fun, and laid back collection captures the quintessential Californian ease and is perfect for the holidays.
