For his debut spring/summer 2017 collection for Saint Laurent, newly-appointed Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello chose to pay tribute to the logo designed by artist Adolphe Mouron Cassandre in 1961. Not only did he suspend an illuminated YSL logo from a crane in the centre of the show venue, it also showed up on the runway as earrings, and on this season’s signature shoes, the Opyum heels.
Incorporating sensuality, heritage and ’80s logomania, the patent leather number is an unexpected statement-maker. With a structural 4.3-inch YSL logo crafted in interlocking metal as its heel, it perfectly encompasses a brilliant mix of provocation and femininity, reflecting the badass attitude of the Saint Laurent girl.
The Opyum heels are $1,700 and available at Saint Laurent, #B1-35 The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, tel: 6688 7400
