Every so often, fashion Twitter picks a fight about celebrity street style that goes something like this: Is Bella Hadid’s one-armed sweater styling actually chic, or is she just famous? Kravitz’s outfit (and Hadid’s, and Harvey’s, and a long list of others) reminds us that these layers have an it-factor few other pieces can replicate. Whether they’re made from faux or genuine leather, premium leather trench coats from Burberry, Apparis, and more can easily shield you from the winter elements. (Some standout options I’ve seen are also lined with shearling or fleece for a doubly cozy factor.) There’s another recent celebrity outfit to prove their utility: Gigi Hadid just swung by her cashmere brand’s pop-up shop wearing a leather trench over a thin matching set. Logic says her trench had to be warm if it was her only layer.
