A stretch of sand so picture-perfect you’ll think you are looking at a painting. Whitehaven Beach in Australia’s chic Whitesunday Islands is only accessible by boat when the tide is high enough to reach it. You won’t find a cabana, a restaurant or even many people, just the very speaky sand beneath your feet.

An unmarked steep trail will lead you to what locals call Secrets. This stretch of beach is perfect for tanning and dolphin sightings but strong currents make swimming dangerous. Don’t worry, at one end of the beach are tidal pools to cool off in and on the opposite side is a waterfall. If you venture farther past that you’ll find Kauai’s premier nude beach.

Don’t drive too fast along Tobago’s windy Eastern road; you may miss this crescent stretch of sand. Turquoise blue water, soft sand and locals selling lunch are why this secluded spot is a must-visit. But be wary of windy weather, the waves can get rough.

Located on Harris Island, Luskentyre is easily one of the word’s best untouched beaches. Miles of white sand and clear ocean make it the perfect place for a relaxing walk, where the odds are you’ll be the only people there.

This sliver of paradise is popular with the locals. Made up of part sand, part volcanic rock, you can drive here and walk down a just few steps to reach the cove. The crystal clear water and coral near the cliff edges make it a prized snorkeling destination.

Don’t bother asking a local, this small and narrow white sand beach is basically unknown. Only accessible by track road, you couldn’t ask for a more secluded paradise. Surrounded by high cliffs and Grecian plants, you won’t find any vendors here, so make sure you pack your Greek salad to go.

It’s only accessible by boat or 20-minute hike, but the beauty of this beach will make the trek well worth it. Refreshing turquoise water and tropical vegetation line the uninhabited beach. Plan an all day visit because the sunsets at Colombier are not to be missed.

Located on the opposite side of the tiny island’s port, this beach is less crowded than the rest. Palm trees line either side of the white sand and the green-blue water is home to some of the islands best snorkeling. Plus, you can always find several of Thailand’s signature longboats docked for the perfect vacation Instagram.

You may recognize this untouched beach from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Surprisingly, over 20 years later it’s still not overrun with tourists. The one of a kind eroded lava formations along the coast make for a ruggedly beautiful landscape.

This tiny inlet beach is straight out of a postcard, and the 15-minute trail walk from Costa Paradiso Village is worth it for the view alone. The shallow waters and protection from the wind make it a popular snorkeling spot for beach-goers in the summer—but if you go just before or just after peak season, you’ll likely have the whole inlet to yourself.
