This week marks the fifth year of beauty at Net-a-Porter. Now a major destination for all things glam, skincare and supplements, back in 2013 they sparked a new era of ecommerce as the first online global retailer to stock luxury beauty. Of their now 220-plus brands and 2,000-plus products, there are some the beauty astute go back to shop time and time again. And for good reason.
Globally, their best-selling brands reads like the ultimate lust list for your beauty bag, with Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass, Nars, Christian Louboutin and Oribe in the line-up, plus surprise player Slip – the anti-sleep crease, anti-bedhead silk pillowcase and eye mask brand. Want to know the specifics? Net-a-Porter let us in on the six best-selling products globally, which we’ve reviewed below.
Discovery Set by Le Labo
A discovery set is the luxury version of sampling, and when it comes to fragrance who doesn’t want to be in the Le Labo club, with their exciting scents that transcend gender, ages and cultures? Including the brand’s best-selling Rose 31 and the now cult Santal 33, this set of minis sells so quickly it’s currently out of stock in the UK, but confirmed to be on its way back soon.
Le Labo Discovery Set – Eau de Parfums, 5 x 1.5ml, £20
It’s hard to avoid the hype surrounding this high-end serum/oil hybrid, with bloggers calling it game-changing and Gwyneth Paltrow revealing it’s a firm favourite of hers. But the award-winning product doesn’t disappoint, and the fact it’s one of Net-a-Porter’s consistent best-sellers confirms it truly delivers.
Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum, £216
Silk eye mask by Slip
Beauty sleep is big business and the fact that Slip (the silk pillowcase and eye mask brand) is one of Net-a-Porter’s biggest sellers is testament to that. Last year they sold 50% more of these luxe eye masks than in 2016, as people have cottoned on to silk’s skin-smoothing benefits.
Since launching in 2013 (the same year Net-a-Porter launched beauty, incidentally), brand Charlotte Tilbury has exploded, winning endless awards and the hearts of beauty lovers. Her debut mascara remains a best-seller with fans loving the buildable formula that fans, lifts, curls and lengthens lashes.
Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes mascara, £23
Magic Cream by Charlotte Tilbury
This is where the famed make-up artist’s brand began. Backstage at shoots and shows, Tilbury would turn around tired, hungover or stressed skin before make-up application with her self-made secret ‘magic cream’. Word got out, demand ensued and the rest is history. Consider it the ultimate moisturiser for day – as many shoppers already do.
For Net-a-Porter, wellness is as much about beauty as it is health and last year the sales of supplements overtook serums on the site. The biggie? Elle Macpherson’s creation with WelleCo, The Super Elixir. This greens-based supplement powder blends vitamins, Chinese herbs, enzymes and pre- and probiotics to help support optimal functionality of the body’s systems.
The Super Elixir by WelleCo, £96, and refills, £62
