PRESENTED BY BOUCHERON
Since its foundation during the mid-1800s, jewellery house Boucheron, the first jeweller to take up residence at Paris’ famous Place Vendome, has been driven by a passion for magnificent stones and fine materials, as well as impeccable technique and craftsmanship. Patronised by Russian czars and English royalty, the jeweller’s historic relationships have burnished its lofty reputation, while its collaborations with cutting-edge designers like Alexander McQueen and Solange Azagury-Partridge have revitalised its timeless appeal for new generations.

Over a century later, Boucheron remains ultra-exclusive, with just 34 boutiques worldwide. Its carefully sourced and crafted jewels are truly the stuff of rarefied glamour, worn by stars like Julia Roberts, Aishwarya Rai and Zhang Ziyi. The Quatre collection which was first introduced in 2004, combined four of the house’s most important motifs — the Gadroon, Diamond-Paved Band, the Clou de Paris, and Grosgrain — was a runaway hit and has come to define the brand’s DNA. This season, Boucheron has introduced two new lines highlighting the Clou de Paris and Grosgrain, that can be mixed and matched in an endless variety of elegant combinations.

The former, based on a series of square studs, is inspired by the street cobblestones of the French capital. Graphic and bold, the design of the Clou has been largely unchanged from its first appearance on the Reflet watches of 1947; like the City of Lights itself, its magic is ageless. The latter, meanwhile, subtly references the Boucheron family’s tailoring lineage. In gold, however, high precision hammering and chiseling is required to achieve the same delicate grooves of the Grosgrain’s namesake ribbon. Where the Clou de Paris is hard-edged, the Grosgrain provides a soft and feminine counterbalance. Together, they form the perfect pair, for any occasion, age or mood.

THREE WAYS TO STYLE BOUCHERON’S NEW COLLECTIONS

A silver slip dress with delicate rose gold pieces is a softly sensual option for an evening, evoking the screen goddesses of the 1930s. Take a tip from Nicole Warne and team it with velvet — the texture of the season — sandals in deep claret.

The woman who wears red means business, a fact Miranda Kerr knows only too well. Go for full-on glamour in pillar-box red, with daring cutouts and bright gold jewellery that will turn your admirers green with envy.

Gloriously over-the-top embroidery can make even the simplest black gown a knockout, as Milla Jovovich demonstrates. Ankle-strap platforms and white gold arm candy will be the perfect complements.
