Inspired by the lightness and ease of fashion label COS’s spring/summer 2016 collection, Japanese artist Sou Fujimoto debuts an expansive light installation that plays on the ideas of interaction and perspective at Salone del Mobile 2016 today. Named “Forest of Light’, the installation consists of a darkened space illuminated by towering cones of light designed to respond to visitors’ movements as they traverse through the space. To heighten the immersive quality of the set-up, specially-composed sounds, subtle fog and mirrored walls form an ever-changing forest landscape.
“The COS pavilion is the purest realisation of the forest concept,” Fujimoto explains. “This forest is not static, but light and people interact with one another, this interaction connects fashion, space and forest as a form of architecture.”
Here, we bring you an exclusive first look inside the exhibition space.
The COS x Sou Fujimoto installation ‘Forest of Light’ will be open from the 12–17 April 2016 at Salone del Mobile 2016.
