The moment that a parade of cropped cardigans and crew necks sauntered down the Miu Miu Spring 22 runway, the Google ranking for “cropped sweaters” increased exponentially. OK, don’t fact check us on that. But there’s no denying the freshness this silhouette instantly offered. Like a spring breeze after a long winter, if you will. Miu Miu’s runway overall was very prep with a Y2K bent. It’s Paris Hilton and Cher and Dionne distilled through an intellectual Miuccia lens. It’s sexy but still cool—a not-always-easy-to-achieve combination. It’s rebellious school girl with a 4.0 GPA who smokes in the bathroom but still gets a full ride to her Ivy of choice. She takes risks but she’s got it all together. And it’s the sort of collection that’s styled so well that it elicits Instagram comparison posts before the runway pieces can even dream of hitting retail stores. Ladies like Aimee Song and Elsa Hosk have already styled looks inspired by the Paris runway.

But the piece that’s really speaking to us, the one that needs to get in our closets right now is the short knit. Until Miu Miu Spring 22 is available in stores, we shopped a few options that get the job done—especially with some innovative styling. And perhaps some good socks and loafers.
