How the Star Wars: The Last Jedi star got ready for the red carpet

Ahead of this year's release of the highly-anticipated sequel Stars Wars: The Last Jedi, actress Daisy Ridley had another Rei she had to tackle first: her first Met Gala red carpet honouring Comme des Garcons and designer Rei Kawakubo. She tapped the talent of hairstylist Robert Vetica for Leonor Greyl, makeup artist Mai Quynh for Kiehl's and EX1, and Oscar de la Renta to put together ger Audrey-meets-Rei look. Vetica captured some exclusive behind-the-scenes moments as the team was getting ready for BAZAAR.com.

" I started by prepping Daisy's skin with Kiehll's Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. I applied this mask and left it on her skin for about 8 minutes while she started her hair," says Quynh. "This mask works great for tired skin. I had her rinse it off, then I applied Kiehl's Ultra facial cream SPF 30 to her face. I added Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado to her eye area as well as Kiehl's Butterstick Lip Treatment SPF 25 to her lips." Photo: Getty

"I started by blow drying the hair using Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice to create texture and shine. then I took two sections, the top and sides and by pulling the top section to the crown and combing the two sides and back up to meet the top, arranged a tight ponytail," says Vetica. "I wanted to keep Daisy's make up classic and glamorous, to go with the dress. I wanted her skin to glow while adding a little drama to the eyes," says Quynh. She used a mix of EX1 foundations, concealer, powders and blushes. She used Surratt Beauty Artistique Eyeshadow in Soie as a base, traced a black gel liner, a few coats of mascara , and then finished with Nars lipstick in Brigette. Photo: Getty
