Happy Halloween. It’s trick-o-treating season and the sinister ghouls and goblins are out raving all night long at their favourite clubs. But we know that while some of us like the thrill of this pseudo-holiday, not all of us are into dancing and partying.

No fret, we’ve gathered a binge-worthy list of scary, funny, and sometimes cringy, films and television shows on Disney+ and Netflix to enjoy in your comfy abode this weekend. Grab some popcorn, the besties or a partner and brace yourselves for a night of shrilling excitement.

The Sanderson Sisters are iconic Halloween Disney witches played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. The trio’s goal is to reclaim their youth and wreak havoc in Salem, and it is up to a few teenagers to stop them. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney Original without singing - time to warm up those pipes.

Every night, eight teens gather around a fireplace in a manor to tell horrifying tales of the supernatural while seeking signs of the afterlife. Why? Because their time has been cut short due to terminal illnesses and they have nothing left to do but to confront death. But the protagonist, Ilonka, believes that the secret to miraculous recovery is hidden in the walls that they live in.

Sounds familiar? Millennials and Gen Zs will recall reading this creepy book series before school assemblies and now, it has been adapted into a TV show. The premise is set in Tanah Merah where a group of inquisitive kids solve paranormal occurrences while maintaining a blog filled with details of their adventures.

This anthology horror drama by the creators of Glee, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, never seems to end, with 11 seasons and counting. Each instalment contains different villains, tortures and mass murders, all of which are set in different times and places. Getting bored is never a problem – witches, clowns, vampires and more, take your pick.

Based on the DC comics by Neil Gaiman, the Sandman, also known as Dream, must retrieve his belongings and stop the chaos that plagues the mortal realm after a 100-year imprisonment by a cult. Though he might be part of the Endless, he has much to learn about himself and the humans.

Based on a true story, a family moves into their new home in an idyllic suburb of their dreams. However, the happy ending that they had hoped for changed when ominous letters threatened their safety and weird neighbours started acting up. This suspenseful thriller also has its comedic moments, thanks to the iconic Jennifer Coolidge who plays a literal and figurative Karen.
