On July 14, Anthony Vaccarello unveiled Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection. The show was set on the island of Isola Della Certosa in Venice, Italy with a special collaboration with artist Doug Aitken who created Green Lens, a large-scale installation. Green Lens is a living experiential artwork which also serves as a destination, a place to explore, to inspire and to be inspired.

The artist and designer hope to “evoke the future through its crystalline reflective interior which reveals a kaleidoscopic view and dense botanic environment” according to the press statement. It continues: “It will be a freestanding artwork, and from the exterior, it will create a combination of reflections mixed with clouds, mist and wild green vegetation evoking a mysterious presence. Inside the sculpture there will be an enormous living kaleidoscope-like space that reflects the landscape, sky and the shifting surroundings. This installation turns the landscape into a living abstraction.”
For this new season, Vaccarello leans heavily onto the ‘70s and ‘80s, drawing inspirations from Yves Saint Laurent’s black and white evening suits, as well as lace, ruffles and pussy bows.
