If the process of couture is akin to the subconscious, then the dreams that manifest are the fantastical creations the many hands of the Ateliers bring to life. For Valentino couture SS2020, Pierpaolo Piccioli explores this idea of the hidden, deeper, sensual world by revealing it through plays on transparency and cuts, in sparing glimpses of the under layer. A clean vertical silhouette turns to reveal a low scooped out back embellished with bows. A sheer organza bodice hints at the structural boning underneath.
