The A-List Celebrity’s Guide To Pulling Off Romantic Pinks

Just in time for Valentine’s Day

July 1, 2017

Wearing blush pinks on a romantic date might not be the most revolutionary idea. However, with celebs like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner spotted wearing soft nude pinks in their “model off-duty” ensemble, the colour has been automatically catapulted to the “it” colour to wear right now.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Pinks are often associated with girly girls and the ’90s trend of hot pinks. Hence, many millennials had an aversion to pinks, thinking it’s dated and done. Now, we see the birth of new versions of pinks and ways to wear pink. Soft pinks are so in, giving the air of innocence, elegance and femininity. We’re here to give you some ideas on how to pull off this colour on your next romantic date.

Dress It Up

Katy Perry

Evenings out in pink scream romance. Opt for a more structured silhouette to create a juxtaposition against the softness of the shade. An evening dress that is more figure-hugging will create a womanly shape, as opposed to a whimsical, girly one. Katy Perry shows us how with this pink, plunging Prada gown. It’s simplicity in design shows off her curves, making her look sexy but not over the top.

Zendaya

Zendaya dresses up the soft pink by grounding her look with black accents. Her dress is feminine and regal at the same time, thanks to the black embroidery atop a soft pink base. The silhouette is also structured, preventing the dress from being overtly girly.

Victoria Beckham

You can totally wear this delicate shade to work too as it is completely work friendly. Victoria Beckham is a total pro at this, naturally. If you think you can’t pull off a traditional shade of pink, take a page off Victoria Beckham’s style and try wearing a nude pink. It’s equal parts nude and pink, making it incredibly neutral and feminine at the same time. This mini dress is perfect for a date after work as it’s more structured and formal. Plus it has pockets!

For a more casual date after office hours, you can pare back the look with a classic blouse and skirt combo for work. Don’t be afraid to match pink with pink for a one-tone outfit. Victoria elevates the look by breaking the monotone with stripes on top as well as opting for a longer, more flowy skirt that grazes just above the ankles. Roll up ’em sleeves on a busy day, it’s the perfect outfit for women on-the-go.

Gigi Hadid

Giant bomber jackets and sweats are transformed to be ultra feminine thanks to the baby pink shade. Gigi loves going for a one-tone look, combining pieces in the exact same colour to create a look. The baby pink provides a pop of colour whilst still being completely neutral. It gives an air of a girly tomboy that’s perfect for chill dates with bae.

Gigi Hadid

Take streetwear up a notch by taking inspiration from this look. Pair varying shades of pink and nudes for a feminine silhouette. Avoid frills and instead go for straight lines and stripes to keep the outfit looking cool and edgy, rather than froufrou. Gigi also plays with sheers to create a sensual, peek-a-boo effect while the blush pink creates the illusion of innocence.

Brie Larson

Elevate your outfit by playing with textures and materials. Instead of wearing a solid blush pink, be like Brie Larson and pair a pink crop top with a high-waisted metallic skirt in a similar shade. Pink and glittering champagne shades go together like strawberries and chocolate, match made in heaven.
Play With Prints

Lake Bell

Don't shy away from prints. They actually help make blush pinks more womanly. Lake Bell shows us how with this gorgeous spotted pink dress. The prints and black accents ground the look with maturity whilst maintaining the innocence of pink.

Rihanna

Who else epitomizes "bad & boujee" like Badgalriri? Rihanna shows us that you can be ultra feminine and badass at the same time with her Fenty x Puma creation. She makes streetwear both glamorous and girly with this matching tracksuit. She accentuates the femininity by accessorizing with pearl necklaces, heels and of course, a boujee lace & pearl fan.
Keep It Simple

Rachel McAdams

Sometimes the best approach is the simplest one. Take inspiration from Rachel McAdams and show up for your date looking as elegant as ever in a nude pink strapless maxi. So long as it fits like a glove, let the blush pink do all the sweet-talking. Opt for a subtle mauve pink and adorn with a matching lippie. No other accessories needed.
