If you're at the annual Cannes Film Festival, be sure to go for the ‘The Art of Behind The Scenes’ exhibition by Jaeger-LeCoultre and Finch & Partners. The vernissage will be held at the Hôtel du Cap (Antibes) on 13th May 2016.

Curated by photographic expert, John Ingledew, the exhibition will have photographs taken by some of the world’s most accomplished ‘on-set’ photographers during the golden era of filmmaking. Many of the images are extremely rare and some have never been exhibited before.

“Haute Horlogerie and the worlds of cinema and photography share common values: both create dreams and a sense of wonder through aesthetic and technical mastery. Jaeger-LeCoultre draws upon the talent of its many artisans to create exceptional watch objects, just as it takes talented writers, directors, actors and technicians to produce a work of filmmaking art. It is all about two worlds infused with creative ingenuity.” Says Daniel Riedo, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre.

In spirit of the exhibition, Jaeger-LeCoultre will also display a Compass camera created in 1938. The vintage full-featured camera was small enough to fit in a cigarette packet based on a demanding design by Englishman Noel Pemberton-Billing, a reality that only a watchmaker could fulfill.

Only 4000 of them were made. This petite camera made up of 290 components features an exposure meter, range finder, EV indicator, angle viewfinder, telescopic lens shade, inbuilt filters, and a device for panoramic and stereoscopic views.

The exceptional vintage camera will pay tribute to the legacy of Jaeger-LeCoultre with a further series of classic photos captured through its camera lens in different parts of the world, such as New York and Venice, which have since become the backdrop to the iconic movies being exhibited
