Louis Vuitton‘s Spring/Summer 2024 show was staged within its new mammoth building at 103 Avenue des Champs-Élysées in an immersive show space drenched in orange. Inspired by the maison’s travel history and spirit of adventure, Nicolas Ghesquière tapped production designer James Chinlund to reimagine a hot-air balloon enveloped in draped sails.
Models walked in oversized bombers paired with flowy skirts, followed by entirely billowy silhouettes in top-skirt, top-trouser and shirtdress-jacket combos with effortless ease—all evoking the breezy effect of sails. Among the range were ballooned tops, strong shoulders, armour-like jackets, houndstooth iterations, and separates on which pinstripes in different proportions were positioned. This season, Ghesquière presented a subversion of French style rooted in creative maximalism, and we’re here for it.
