We’re no strangers when it comes to dopamine dressing. Colours like blue and green can calm flustered souls, while shades of orange and yellows can brighten up one’s mood and evoke feelings of cheerfulness. But more recently, a new trendy colour has been picking up pace in the fashion scene, and it’s one that’s bold, unapologetic and delivers an individual signal of strength. And if you’re not familiar with the colour, then it’s about time you should. Enter Viva Magenta.

Recently, global colour authority Pantone announced that Viva Magenta 18-1750 is the colour that will be taking us into 2023. Descending from the red family, the colour is often mistaken for a red or pink hue.

And of course, we’ll definitely be seeing more of our favourite celebs sporting the shade in the upcoming months. However, there are a few that have been playing around with this particular shade of Magenta before it was announced that it was the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2023. From celebs like Heart Evangelista to Blackpink’s Lisa, these celebs didn’t wait for the announcement to appropriate Viva Magenta. For some style inspiration for the year ahead, we’ve rounded up some looks by your favourite stars who have been spotted wearing this popular shade of magenta.

Late last year, Blackpink’s Lisa showed off her love for magenta when she snapped a picture of herself wearing a turtleneck cutout top in the beautiful shade. Leaning to a bolder red undertone, Lisa paired her look with a pair of statement-worthy bottoms that featured a unique cut-out detailing on the side of her hip for a subtle, skin-baring look, that’s stylish yet sexy at the same time.

It’s no secret that the Princess of Wales has embraced Viva Magenta in more ways than one. But if we had to choose our favourite outfit from the lot, it would definitely have to be this classy monochrome ensemble. Aside from her beautiful pleated coat dress, Kate Middleton also paired her look with a matching pillbox hat, Mulberry clutch, and a pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps.

When it comes to making an entrance, nothing quite commands the room like Heart Evangelista herself. For this outfit, she kept it simple by choosing an all-white ensemble. But all eyes were on her bag — she added a pop of colour to her look with a fuchsia-coloured crocodile-skin Hermès bag — giving her outfit the right amount of pizzazz to her minimalistic look.

Jennie’s outfit may not exactly be in Viva Magenta, but you could say that it’s somewhat similar to the shade itself. Rocking several exquisite ensembles through the years, the Blackpink singer is no stranger to some good old-fashioned tweed looks. And if there’s one outfit that we keep thinking about, it would be this preppy and chic two-piece tweed outfit for Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2021 show at Paris Fashion Week.

It’s been awhile since we last Zendaya in anything magenta, but in any case, we can all agree that the star looks stunning in the shade. For this look, the actress wears a beautifully structured top and a matching maxi skirt for the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards.
