Man With Style: Harry Halim, Fashion Designer
"I design clothes that let people express themselves without fear or judgement."
Like his favourite designer, the late Tunisian couturier Azzedine Alaïa, 36-year-old Indonesian Harry Halim believes in the ability of fashion to empower. And it shows in the sculptural silhouettes and bold cuts that have become signatures of the designer’s eponymous label, which he founded in Paris in 2010—a year after he relocated there—and expanded into Jakarta and Los Angeles in 2018 and 2019 respectively. To him, style is about taking pride in your appearance while staying true to yourself—which Halim does in his “uniform” of black oversize suit worn with cool ankle boots. A mainstay in his wardrobe? Timeless leather.
