“It’s not just about cooking, but also hosting and making sure people have a good time,” says chef and marketing consultant Jeremy Nguee, founder of Preparazzi, and co-founder of Batu Lesung Spice Company and Mrs Kueh. When it comes to fashion, the 41-year-old food entrepreneur subscribes to the same philosophy he has towards food: “If you don’t let anyone dictate what you eat, don’t let anyone tell you how to dress.”

“When I was 12, I picked out an entire outfit at Esprit: Jeans,
a t-shirt and a red checkered shirt that I wore unbuttoned like a light jacket. With my floppy centre-parted hair, I thought I looked pretty cool.”

“After 10 years of running Preparazzi, I made the difficult decision to severely downsize my team, close my main kitchen and pivot the business. But I’m grateful that I’ve had good clients and great teams to work with—the process of evolving and adapting has been extremely rewarding.”

“I’d love to have Jason Statham or Matt Damon play me in a movie. It’d be funny to watch either of these two action stars muck around in wet markets, getting messed up in the kitchen and trying to make it look like he’s got it all together. Comedic gold.”

“I love flower arrangement, especially ikebana. Just like in cooking, there’s a fair amount of manipulation to the ‘ingredients’ to achieve a desired form.”
