We’ve rounded up the actress’s top tips on how to stay in shape and healthy, both mentally and physically

In a year that’s seen her jetting between the set of Suits in Toronto and her boyfriend’s home in England, it’s a wonder how Meghan Markle can boast such a healthy lifestyle between several time zones and climates.

But, according to the Californian actress, the key to maintaining a healthy work/life balance is focussing on self-love, fitness and mindfulness.

Having heard of the star’s love for vanilla shakes, acai bowls with fresh berries, facials and weekly saunas, we’re desperate to know her go-to tips to remaining healthy on the road.

In an interview with Women’s Health, Meghan reveals exactly how she priorities healthy eating, fitness and mindful reflection over everything.

"Running has always been my form of moving meditation, which I relish because it allows me to get out of my head. I also work closely with a personal trainer named Craig McNamee when I am filming Suits in Toronto."
Hit the gym with friends

"I'm eager to come to the UK to do a workout with Russell [Bateman], the founder of SBC. My friend Millie Macintosh raves about his workouts, so I'll call her up to do a class together next time I'm back in London."
Practice yoga in candlelight

"My mom was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood. I love an intense vinyasa class - and even better if its blasting hip-hop and done in a dark room with candlelight. The best!"
Love your unique features

For someone who grew up hating her freckles, the actress admits they're now her favourite feature: "I love them."
Make time for yourself

"I give myself the luxury of downtime. We are all so incredibly busy and juggling so many things but I always take an hour to just decompress, watch mindless TV, snuggle with my dogs and enjoy a glass of wine. That's all part of the investment. It's a balance."
Don't compromise on health

One thing Markle won't negotiate on is, "breathing. Slowly and mindfully."

"My health, my state of mind, the feeling you have after a workout; all of this things drive me to step onto my mat or go to the gym. Sometimes the idea of working out sounds absolutely dreadful, but I always remind myself of how good it will feel afterward. Euphoric, almost!"
