Donatella Versace still has some surprises up her sleeve. The siren of sex knows that suggestion is just as powerful. And when she does covered up and sporty, she does it well. Case in point: her fall lineup, that touched on military, athleisure and graphic prints.
The colour combos of different blues with shots of melon or citrus-y hues and greys all served as a great canvas to show off all the ways the sports authority is here to stay. But instead of bringing gym wear to every day, Versace took every day looks and added sporting elements, thus elevating it. Dresses both swingy and clingy had a scuba like quality to their material and color blocking, while skinny suits and moto jackets were paired with cropped tops.
Body con dresses and separates came out in tight geometric patterns that eventually gave over to neon bright blurred camo prints. Everything was paired with great leather totes and top-handle bags in colours that echoed the clothes. Each had a colourfully striped charm hanging from it—a seemingly superfluous detail that served to soften the entire look.
One particular motif was especially strong. A handful of slim navy dresses featured either a pink or yellow paint blur from shoulder to hem. It was a recurring theme in different iterations, as edging on minis and along skinny Royal Tenenbaum-like suits.
The track suit got a chic, polished update here with motorcycle jacket toppers, skinnier ski-pant proportions and stirrups. Stirrups, in fact, were used throughout, creating a longer, lean leg.
