Pop quiz: How many animated tiger characters can you name from your childhood years? If your knowledge stops at Tigger, then consider Miu Miu’s latest T-shirt capsule line that has just been released for Chinese New Year as a little refresher.
The brand revisited several animated classics from as early as 1936 to 1971 in order to mine for inspiration for a six-piece line-up of cotton T-shirts. The result? Four feline characters – Tigger, Tiger Mask, Tiger Girl and Tillie Tiger – ended up as embroidery or prints on styles including baby tees and oversized long-sleeved crew-neck T-shirts.

This adorable character made its debut in 1936 for Disney’s series of animated short films called Silly Symphonies. The bow-loving character appeared on screen as the love interest of Elmer Elephant and later in comics alongside her beau.

While the bouncy Tigger does not need any introduction, here is a trivia: the stuffed animal-come-to-life that first appeared in 1968 from the cartoon versions of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh tales.

Tiger Girl is the alter ego of Lilly Taylor and was created in 1968 at the height of superhero fandom. The crime-fighting heroine was known for her animal empathy and her sidekick, a Bengal tiger called Kitten.
