The Moncler Genius project is a ground-breaking initiative that invites eight creative forces such as Craig Green, Simone Rocha and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli to reinterpret its signature down jackets. “We have chosen designers that differ greatly from each other as we have always spoken to different generations. We constantly need to offer new experiences and new ideas,” explains Remo Ruffini, the brand’s Chairman and CEO who is also the brains behind the project.
Every month, a new collection by a designer will be rolled out across Moncler boutiques, selected multi-label all over the world. And the latest to hit store shelves? An all-black outing by Noir Kei Ninomiya. Fascinated by the idea of “wearable geometry”, the Comme des Garçons alumnus transformed the humble duvet into almost avant-garde pieces by manipulating nylon and leather through innovative workmanship. Through it all, he kept shapes feminine, with round skirts and cropped jackets boasting a punkish and dark romantic attitude. See the collection in the gallery above.
