The Perfumes A-listers Actually Wear (But Aren’t Paid To)

Ever wondered what perfumes famous faces wear? These are the go-to perfumes of Meghan Markle, Kate Bosworth, and Victoria Beckham.

Victoria Beckham recently shared her adoration for the fragrance Room Service by niche perfumers Vilhelm Parfumerie, calling it "super chic!" on Instagram. The fragrance was created to capture the glamour of Hollywood in a bottle, think Marilyn Monroe drinking cocktails at the Beverly Hills Hotel in her heyday.

The model and Bazaar cover star revealed her signature perfume is by Chloé, having stated "I cannot live without my Chloé perfume." We don't blame her, as the distinctively dreamy feminine fragrance lends itself perfectly to a signature scent.

In a recent interview with Bazaar, Arterton said her go-to scent was a men's fragrance: "I love it because it's really fresh and citrusy, but not sharp or heavy. It reminds me of fresh laundry. People know I love it so much that every Christmas I get gifted the matching candle."

Waterhouse revealed to us that she isn't usually one to wear perfume, but is partial to wearing Ferragamo fragrances from time to time. Generally, she relies on bathing in essential oils or Epsom salts for a gorgeous natural sent.

Kate Bosworth is a loyal fan of Swedish fragrance house Byredo and their celebrated Gypsy Water isher signature scent. In conversation with Into the Gloss, she said: "His scents are beautiful and complex and sexy and innocent. There are such incredible layers to what he does. I’m a loyalist with my scents.”

The Duchess of Sussex claimed to wear Jo Malone London's Wild Bluebell perfume as her everyday fragrance. It's light and fresh and is one of two of her 'signature' scents, which she revealed on her past blog The TIG, whereas for evening occasions she cited her love of the Bvlgari Blv II perfume.

When asked by Bazaar, the actress explained: "I like to be low-key with my fragrance, I don't like overpowering perfumes on other people or myself. Currently, Kiehl's Musk Eau de Toilette Spray and Kai by Gaye Straza Perfume Oil, which is the same name as my son, are my favourites as they're fresh. It's that just-got-out-of-the-shower smell."

Sarandon revealed to us that she too, like Gemma Arterton, is a fan of wearing men's fragrance: "I don't have a signature scent as such, but I prefer masculine scents like sandalwood – Eva from the Italian perfumer Santa Maria Novella is a favourite. I tend to adopt a new perfume when I take on a new role. For instance Bal à Versailles by Jean Desprez was referred to in Twilight, a movie I did with Paul Newman, so I wore that when filming."

When Kate Middleton married Prince William back in 2011, she was wearing White Gardenia Petals by Illuminum. The small brand behind the soft, floral scent then became huge overnight, with every 50ml bottle selling out immediately after the news broke that the Duchess had worn it.

“I wear a scent from Bond No. 9, which is a fragrance place out of New York, like actually on Bond Street,” Hailey said in an interview with Elle Australia. “I don’t know what the name of mine is, but all the bottles are in the shape of a star, and mine is red and has music notes on it. It smells awesome. I like it because it’s not like a super girly scent, like or a boy or a girl could wear it. And secretly, the reason I know what the scent is is because a boy had been using it, and I was like, ‘I like this for myself, so I’m gonna use it.’”

Despite having her own beauty empire, she isn't big on fragrances, as she told Glamour that they can often give her headaches. Instead, she opts for a spritz from Victoria's Secret that doesn't break the bank.
