True to Chanel style, the Grand Palais was transformed into another mega set—this time as a server mainframe for it’s spring/summer 2017 blockbuster show.
It was perhaps Karl Lagerfeld’s way of acknowledging technology’s influence on society and fashion; after all, the digital revolution has increased the industry’s need for speed.
That sense of urgency translated into the idea of a woman pulling together her look in record time: Lingerie is layered under a tweed jacket, for example. Or a lace slip worn under an oversized sweater—the look will no doubt find its way to the backs of Instagram-obsessed women.
Technology was also reinterpreted as a graphic print resembling psychedelic bursts of optic flares that ran down gossamer cuffed jackets, a flowy trouser and easy summer dresses.
