Pomellato's CEO Sabina Belli tells us more about the brand, its designs and its celebration of women.

What should women know about Pomellato?

That Pomellato is inspired by them. Women have always been at the centre of the Pomellato universe since its inception. The vision of Pino Rabolini, who founded the company in 1967, was expressed through unique, contemporary and colourful jewellery that could be worn every day. They were creations designed for self-reliant, independent women who were free to buy their own jewellery. From there, a modern vision of jewellery was born, introducing the notion of ready-to- wear jewels, much like what was happening in fashion at the time. This drive and these founding values still remain today and resonate even more broadly. Every Pomellato jewel is made with love and passion by the expert hands of over 100 goldsmith artisans at Casa Pomellato in Milan.

What sets the brand apart from the competition?

Pomellato is a Milanese brand with its own style, based on design, art and colour. We have a different concept compared to traditional luxury jewellery, and we create and make by hand prêt-à-porter precious jewels that combine understatement, playfulness and joy with sophistication. Pomellato was the first to take the jewels out of the safe and transform them into desirable objects to wear every day with confidence and nonchalance.

What makes a design a Pomellato creation?

Pomellato loves playing with volume and shape. Our designs are feminine, bold and understated at the same time. You will never find a sharp corner in our jewels; it is all about that organic feel that comes from the superb craftsmanship that is a key ingredient of our jewellery. Playfulness and a touch of irony are also defining traits. Pomellato pioneered stackability: You can play with our jewels to create your personal look.

Tell us about the new designs that celebrate Nudo’s 20th anniversary this year.

Nudo is Pomellato’s most recognisable and iconic collection, and we celebrate this anniversary with new additions that showcase tempting gemstones. The Nudo Gelé features new intense colours with a frosted effect that’s perfect for mixing with our existing transparent gems, whilst the Nudo Chocolate offers an unusual range of moonstones enhanced by three different shades of brown diamonds. We also have an elegant new cuff-like bangle with five different gemstones.

The celebration of women is something that stands at the core of Pomellato. Can you tell us more about the Pomellato for Women campaign?

Pomellato for Women was launched in 2017 as a communication platform that unites and gives voice to a community of like-minded women from different walks of life. It aims to both inspire and highlight the importance of female leadership and inclusivity while sending a strong message of diversity and equality for a better future for everyone. Whether they are Hollywood artistes such as Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett or Tiffany Haddish, fashion headliners, diversity activists or everyday heroes, all our women act as bearers of the values Pomellato stands for. Together, we listen, empower and promote inclusiveness.
