In 1985, a then 36-year-old Miuccia Prada introduced a line of backpacks that would propel the company her grandfather founded to even greater heights. Crafted from nylon, the bags struck an immediate chord among the public for their functionality and understated design. If anything, the success of the nylon range also introduced the world to Prada’s genius—she’d eventually go on to become one of contemporary fashion’s most influential figures.
Fast forward 32 years later, and the black fabric is now the subject of a special pop-up at ION Orchard. The special installation, which runs until 30 November, features new renditions of backpacks, totes and bum bags from the Nylon Vela series in fresh colours up for sale.
