At the height of the ‘70s hippy culture, fashion drew inspiration pretty much from music and spirituality — yoga and meditation, travelling to India, and adopting the style that came with that culture. It was like a personal branding, a statement of allegiance to the in-club of those who were on their way to enlightenment. The fascination for bohemianism would cycle back throughout the eras. For Spring Summer 2022, Veronica Etro was influenced by that special time and produced a collection that featured splendid floral prints and embroideries that exploded in vibrant colours of orange, yellow, blue and pink. The signature paisley joined the psychedelic birds of paradise scenes and rainbow-coloured tree of life and mandala patterns. Intricate crochet halter tops that also flowed into full length dresses, as well as tops fashioned from silk scarves, brought to mind Margaret Qualley as Pussycat in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
