For Max Mara’s Spring Summer 2022 collection, creative director Ian Griffiths explores a new concept for the brand’s outerwear heritage, challenging us to a new format of getting dressed.
The classic boxy oversized shirt comes in a myriad of colours, from white to lemon yellow to graphic striped print, and it's worn as a jacket, top and dress throughout the collection. Matching monogrammed sets take on pyjamas and gown vibes that look just as comfortable on the couch and on the streets. Slouchy coats in neutral colours and soft cashmere meant for day also come in electric orange and glossy leather for a more festive affair. Not only does the extravagant feather embellished dresses and skirts come in black, they’re also offered in delicate beige, and, when styled with slouchy oversized jackets, are just as convincing for a day out on the town as well as a WFH zoom meeting.
But femininity and sensuality are not mutually exclusive. The easy bandeau tops peeking from under impeccably tailored jackets, as well as sporty crop tops with tennis skirts showing slivers of midriff, let you be sexy without even trying.
