Japanese apparel giant Uniqlo and Italian fashion house Marni have come together once again for a kaleidoscopic spin on winterwear. This comes after the success of their inaugural collection in June which featured summery made-for-everyday staples like bubble skirts and oversized camp-collared shirts.
Set to launch on December 9, the sophomore collection is a retro futuristic affair themed around “the joy of being wrapped up” and spans Uniqlo’s signature Heattech turtlenecks and leggings with loud prints, striped knitwear and voluminous coats. Accessories like balaclavas, scarves, mittens and beanies in bold colours round off the winterwear collection.
Beyond the winterwear is a line of equally vibrant silk scarves featuring hand-painted patterns. The designs, which are inspired by the age-old art of Japanese wrapping cloths called furoshiki, can be tied as tiny bags, and also provide a pop of colour when worn around the neck or to accent a hairstyle.
