The colour of calm proved popular on the runways and while all shades of blue in varying finishes were seen, cobalt blue ruled—little surprise there, given that it flatters all skin tones. For a sprightlier gaze, do like Prabal Gurung and bookend the eyes with one with a matte finish, such as NARS’s Single Eyeshadow in Outremer. In a dressier mood? Turn the glam way up—in the vein of models walking the LaQuan Smith show—and go full-on glittery with Pixi’s Glitter-y Eye Quad in BluePearl.

Good skin is always in fashion and the spring/summer 2022 show models flaunted, across the board, velvety skin that appeared matte but also luminous. No need to lose heart, though, if you’re still on your journey towards skin perfection. The trick is to use a hydrating foundation followed by a touch of finely milled loose powder, applied sparingly over the face using a powder puff, to allow the glow to peek through.
The eyes remain the focus this season, with animal-inspired looks making a strong showing. Alongside the more graphic cat eyes—cue the double-ended iteration on models at Dior and the supersized version marked by a flurry of feathery strokes on Givenchy’s— were dramatic zebra prints spotted on the Rodarte runway. Cream-based eyeliners, such as Patrick Ta’s Major Dimension Precision Gel Liner and Shiseido’s MicroLiner Ink, work especially well for free-form and raw, painterly lines, but if you’re gunning for precision, look to KVD Vegan Beauty’s liquid eyeliner Tattoo Liner, a tried-and-tested favourite that won’t let you down in terms of intensity and staying power.

It seems that the embellished makeup looks on HBO’s Euphoria have spilled over onto the spring/summer 2022 runways, with face gems gracing many a model. Judging by the individual sparklies spread generously across the upper cheeks of models at Etro and the drapes of diamante artistically arranged over the entire face at C+plus Series, anywhere on the face is fair game. Our only tip: Use eyelash glue and rhinestones with a flat back, such as those from Swarovski, for easier adhesion to skin.

“Otherworldly” is the operative word for this trend—we’re talking silvery highlights, duo-chrome pigments and iridescent glimmer. For the high-shine ethereal radiance of models on Lanvin’s runway, pack on the multi-chromatic Bedazzled and metallic Dollar Baby hues in Teviant’s Horus Eyeshadow Palette. Or look to Private Policy and make it more palatable for daily wear by opting instead for a glittery diamond sheen—courtesy of Dior’s Dior Forever Couture Luminizer in 03 Pearlescent Glow.
