It was a new day at Lanvin as the French fashion house welcomed another new creative director, Bruno Sialelli. For his debut, Sialelli brought a little bit of everything to the table: knitwear, tailored suiting, sheer floral dresses, checked ponchos, mismatched prints (including some baby foxes), and beyond. With a mix of menswear and womenswear, the creative director showed his range in a total of 62 looks—many of which veered in several different directions. Though a bit overwhelming at points, Sialelli’s debut was a dynamic one and perhaps the start to a new chapter for the fashion house. —Lauren Alexis Fisher

While many designers are looking to bold and unexpected colors for Fall 2019, Margiela is sticking to the basics. Strong, tailored coats and unisex suiting separates were amongst the standouts of the collection. It was a reminder that the classics, especially when done correctly, will never steer you wrong. —Lauren Alexis Fisher

Maria Grazia Chiuri set out to explore the role of identity while reinterpreting the history of Dior for Fall 2019. On an artful, graphic set by artist Tomaso Bingo (featuring images of nude models posed as the letters of the alphabet) at the Musee Rodin, that meant a parade of waist-cinched looks that brought femininity and elegance in a palette of mostly black, white and red. But it also undoubtedly has an edge—coming complete with bucket hats and mirrored cat eye shades. This is a girl who wears her "Feminist" t-shirt un-ironically but doesn't apologize for loving beautiful clothes. One of the designer's best to date. -Kerry Pieri

Simon Porte Jacquemus is that rare designer who truly understands the social media generation. He did create the giant hat and the tiny bags liked 'round the world, after all. For Fall 2019, he created his own little world, "Place Jacquemus,” a colorful, Insta-worthy set inspired by a fictional town in the South of France—with colorful doors, distressed wooden benches, and clothes lines. The looks were South of France-worthy as well—with wide leg trousers under elongated vests and airy suiting in shades of light blue and cream. This is Fall though, after all, and the Jacquemus girl needs some knits, boots and coats and the designer was happy to comply with a layered, monochrome hot pink look, orange leather skirts and neutral sweaters. -Kerry Pieri
