At Watches and Wonders 2024, Chanel Haute Horlogerie presented an entire capsule collection—Couture O’Clock—inspired by Coco Chanel’s atelier and the tools used by her seamstresses to create the timeless style codes and garments that have become nothing short of legendary. Below, we unpack the highlights from the collection.

J12 COUTURE WORKSHOP AUTOMATON CALIBER 6 WATCH

Starting with the J12, this model features a figurine of Chanel, her scissors and a couture dress form that comes to life, thanks to the new Calibre 6 movement with 355 components that allow the animation to take place at the push of a button.

MADEMOISELLE J12 COUTURE WATCH

If you are looking for a watch that reflects the actual designer, this is the one for you with a silhouette of Mademoiselle Chanel sitting on a couch, dressed in a classic black and white suit. In the back, the disc, covered with golden safety pins, hangers, thread and more, spins to add a layer of dynamism to the timepiece.

Here come the tools. First up, the piece unique bobbin cuff secret watch that lies beneath the emerald-cut yellow sapphire that adorns the yellow gold cuff festooned with diamonds.

SAFETY PIN LONG NECKLACE COUTURE

The Watchmaking Creation studio sure knows how to reinvent the wheel without missing a beat, especially with their interpretation of a classic long necklace with a diamond snow-set safety pin that conceals the watch face in plain sight at the connecting circle of the pin.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it—just make more of it in different styles. The studio reimagined the pincushion design presented last year and turned it into a stunning ring watch powered by a quartz movement. The ring is accompanied by two equally limited models, a cuff and a long necklace, in the same design.

Buttons are a core aspect of fashion, both as a functional tool and an emblem for the brand. Chanel is no different—the Maison treats buttons with an immense level of consideration, such that button designs are never repeated between seasons. This stunning medallion watch in yellow gold, onyx and black lacquer is a homage to the humble button with the profile of the founder, herself.

PREMIÈRE CHARMS COUTURE WATCH

New Première watches have also surfaced, the first is cleverly hidden among yellow gold plated steel charms of sewing tools hanging on a bracelet that mimics the classic Chanel bag chain with leather intertwined.

Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any cuter, the Maison introduced a Première watch in the form of a measuring tape. The double-wrapped black and gold leather strap is printed with actual numbers and lines much like the real deal. To top it off, they added a Coco charm on the side as well.

BOY·FRIEND COUTURE WATCH

Fans of the iconic tweed jackets will fall head over heels for this one. The dial is modelled after the pattern of tweed along with eight diamonds as buttons of a classic Chanel jacket and accentuated with a silver braid to really make them pop. The bezel is embellished with a gold chain as a nod to the chains sewn into the hems of each jacket to help weigh the fabric down to sit perfectly on the body.
