The pursuit of horological perfection is typically defined by technical precision and transcendent design. Franck Muller’s latest Asia Pacific Exclusive Round Skeleton Baguette 31 collection achieves these, boasting the smallest skeletonised in-house movement ever manufactured and topped off with a spectacular rainbow assortment of gems.

Following the trend of smaller timepieces that sit ergonomically on most wrists, the radiant collection consists of five 31mm timepieces—a considerable reduction from the previous 39mm and 41mm iterations already available from the same line.
The compact dimensions call for a brand-new movement, MVT FM 1540-RS, that perpetuates the watch’s sleek profile while balancing the mechanics that provide excellent accuracy. The manufacture has also successfully minimised the openworked movement without compromising on power, affording a four-day reserve.

Several parts of the movement, such as the mainplate and the bridges, have been pared down to stay true to the original design that proudly showcases the meticulous craftsmanship.

Of course, the beating heart of this series isn’t the only thing to gawk at. Channel-set diamonds and precious stones cut into baguettes are carefully set by hand inside the bezel and on the lugs, crafted from white or rose gold.
Three of the watches featuring emeralds, rubies and sapphires are fitted with alligator straps that correspond to the colour of the gems while the diamond-only variant comes with an elegant black strap.
The last, and arguably the most fabulous of all, is adorned with technicoloured sapphires, rubies and tsavorites that are captivating from every angle. The glimmer of the baguettes on all the watches is enhanced by over 150 brilliant-cut diamonds on the walls of the case, making this timeless accessory a stand-out for generations to come.
