Korean sunglasses and optical glasses brand Gentle Monster has just shrunk six of their signature designs—Chapssal, Eastmoon, Jackbye, Newturtle, Peggy, and Ribbon—from their 2019 collection ‘13’ to launch their first-ever kids line.
Inspired by self-made youth creators and committed to supporting kids express their unique individuality, the campaign stars 8-year-old Instagram icon sensation Coco, who is emblematic of everything Gentle Monster wants to celebrate with this collection.
One look at Coco’s Instagram page and instantly the buzz around her is clearly understood. She is the perfect pint-sized amalgamation of thrifty streetwear and high fashion with an dash of easygoing boldness—and her 690,000 Instagram followers would agree.
The Tokyo-based mini-model rose to fame at the mere age of 6 when she would play dress-up in her parents’ Harajuku-district vintage clothing store, Funktique, and her mom would snap photos for her personal Instagram. Now two years later, Coco is editing her own photos, working with huge name brands, and creating her own looks for magazine features.
The Gentle Monster campaign features a double vision of Coco in front of fantastical romantic backdrops and in theatrical outfits that all the more give rise to both Gentle Monster’s and Coco’s eccentric styles and auras of confidence.
