4 Reasons Why Your Child Should Be Bilingual

Thanks to an innovative language programme, it’s clear that Stamford American International School is one school that speaks your child’s language

1. DAILY CLASSES

Students from 2 years of age learn Mandarin or Spanish daily. The programme progresses students through seven levels of proficiency in Mandarin and five levels in Spanish, assessing students through two revered exam authorities—Youth Chinese Test (YCT) and STAMP (Standards Based Measurements of Proficiency).

2. DOUBLE HIT

Stamford American’s Bilingual Programme offers equal exposure to either Mandarin or Spanish, and English, across the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. This results in the highest possible proficiency and confidence in both languages.

3. HOME SWEET HOME

Being proficient in their native language is one way for a child to assimilate successfully into his or her home culture. Eight languages are taught within Stamford American’s Mother Tongue Curriculum—Dutch, Danish, French, Finnish, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese and Swedish. Children can take these enrichment lessons on the school’s grounds and don’t have to travel to specialist facilities.

4. UNDERSTANDING OTHERS

Stamford American’s extensive language offering is completed by its Accelerated English Programme. Students follow the mainstream curriculum, but within dedicated classrooms, benefiting from smaller class sizes and expert English as Additional Language support teachers to develop confidence in the language of commerce and politics.

Language courses taught at Stamford American are run by native-speaking specialists. Find out more at Open House on 18 March, register at sais.edu.sg
