New mother-of-three Kate Middleton has been staying out of the spotlight in the past month since she and Prince William welcomed their third child. Due to maternity leave, she was absent from Prince Charles‘ garden party yesterday, though she did make an exception to attend the royal wedding on Saturday.

However, despite her hiatus, the Duchess of Cambridge still came forward with a statement today in honor of Children’s Hospice Week in the U.K., since she’s a patron of children’s hospices in East Anglia. In the note, Middleton not only praises palliative care professionals and encourages spreading positivity, she also shares rare details about her own kids.

“Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish,” the Duchess wrote.

We’ve seen a few moments between Middleton and her royal tots—George, 4, Charlotte, 3, and Louis, one month—outdoors together in the past few years. Even one of her first sightings with newborn Prince Louis was during an outing at Kensington Gardens. At the time, Middleton was reportedly pushing the royal baby in an old-fashioned pram during a leisurely walk while big sister Charlotte tagged along.

This Children’s Hospice Week, as Patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, I am celebrating the remarkable and life-changing support provided by children’s hospices and palliative care charities across the UK. They offer a lifeline to children and families facing the unimaginable.

The theme of Children’s Hospice Week is “Life’s Short” and I am touched that children and young people are sharing what they love most in life and reminding us how precious time is for everyone. By supporting Children’s Hospice Week we can help them spread joy and positivity across the UK, encouraging everyone to make the most of moments that matter.

Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish.

I hope you will join me in supporting Children’s Hospice Week this year. Together we can champion the vital role that children’s hospices play in helping seriously ill children and families to have more precious moments.
