The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
In Prince George‘s newest portrait, which was released on his fifth birthday on Sunday, the young royal bears a striking resemblance to his dad Prince William when he was a boy.

The father-son duo share the same shaggy blonde locks and sweet smile, but most noticeably, they’ve dressed in practically identical white button-up shirts with blue piping on the collars and sleeves, which they wore with blue shorts.
Prince William wore his version of the outfit during his brother Prince Harry‘s christening in 1984, and during a family trip to Venice, Italy in 1985.

The young Duke of Cambridge was on the Royal Yacht Britannia with his parents, Princess Diana and Prince Charles, and his baby brother. William was only about three years old at the time the photos were taken.
Prince George’s photo is from Prince Louis‘ christening, which took place on July 9th at St. James’s Palace. Kensington Palace released the portrait on July 22 on behalf of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

This isn’t the first time Prince George has paid tribute to his father’s toddler style.
In 2015, he arrived to little sister Princess Charlotte‘s christening in a red and white embroidered top, red shorts, white socks, and black shoes. His father wore nearly the same look decades prior, while visiting his newborn brother at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1984.
His mom, Kate Middleton, may be praised as the fashionista of family, but Prince George is clearly taking style notes from his dad.
