Adele dropped a new track, “When We Were Young” yesterday and had an incredible performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall last night, but she’s not done with surprises. With her highly-anticipated new album 25 set to release this Friday, the 27-year-old singer teased audiences with another taste of her third album when she sang “Water Under the Bridge” at the show last night.
With a strong percussion and loaded harmonies, it’s more upbeat than the ballads we’ve heard from 25 so far. But “Water Under the Bridge” isn’t any less emotional. In an interview with Beats Radio 1, Adele revealed it was about her longterm partner Simon Konecki, with whom she has a son.
“‘Water Under the Bridge’ is more like, I’m waiting for him to be horrible but I don’t think he’s gonna be, waiting for the relationship to end,” she told DJ Zane Lowe. “This is the relationship now that I’m gonna be in. It was quite a groundbreaking moment.”
