When you go through a rough breakup, the remedy is a no-brainer: let your feelings out by listening to some Adele. But when the singer herself gets her heart broken, how does she cope?
“I mope around for a little while,” she told People. “I do embrace the fact that I’m heartbroken. I don’t move on quickly. I don’t know if that’s because it seems that I’m only really creative when I’m a bit momentarily depressed,” the pop star said of her healing and songwriting process.
Though she’s happily in a relationship with boyfriend Simon Konecki (with whom she has a three-year-old son), Adele once had a “post-breakup routine” that involved listening to melancholic tunes to deal with the split. Her roster of heartbreak songs includes picks by Katy Perry, Florence + The Machine, and Etta James—surprisingly, none of her own ballads made the cut. Behold, Adele’s break-up playlist:
“I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt
“After the Storm” by Mumford and Sons
“Cosmic Love” by Florence + The Machine
“This Year’s Love” by David Gray
“Not Like the Movies” by Katy Perry
“All I Could Do Was Cry” by Etta James
