Despite what the cynics and killjoys have declared, the end of side parts is not upon us. In fact, if Anya Taylor-Joy has any say in the matter, a new era of the most dramatic and sleek side part has actually just ushered in–right through our TV screens and straight into our hair-spo Pinterest boards.

Taylor-Joy resuscitated the supposedly antiquated 'do tonight at the 78th annual Golden Globes, where she won the award for Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role in Netflix's saucy chess drama The Queen's Gambit. Styled by Law Roach, the actress wore a deep emerald Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, featuring a plunging V-cut and a matching overcoat. Her platinum and diamond jewels, courtesy of Tiffany & Co., also totaled over $1 million, (specifically, her necklace cost $195,000, her earrings $1,500,000, and her ring $130,000). To top off the ridiculously glamorous look, Taylor-Joy had her platinum blonde locks cascading over one shoulder in–yes!–a classic side part.

In her brief acceptance speech, Taylor-Joy, who was also nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role as the titular character in Emma, thanked her fellow nominees as well as her cast mates and crew.

“Thank you for being part of this journey, thank you for trusting me with Beth," she said. “I would do this project again and again and again, I love it so much."

It was a win for side part-lovers and chess players everywhere.
