Some people may say that your twenties are a time to let go of childish predilections, but Bella Hadid is not one of those people. The supermodel, who turned 23 years old yesterday, took her birthday bash to Color Me Mine, a ceramics painting shop that usually hosts birthday parties for demographics ranging from middle schoolers to toddlers still learning their colors. As it seems, walking the biggest runways in Paris and New York and Milan doesn’t mean that you can’t participate in the simple joy that is painting a mug.
Bella’s family joined the casual occasion, including sister Gigi, mom Yolanda, and brother Anwar. Other non-relative attendees included pop star Dua Lipa, Friend of a Friend founder Olivia Perez, and iid founder Ally Aflalo.
The celebrants took to Instagram to share the fun. In a snap posted by Gigi, the model revealed that Color Me Mine birthday parties are a family tradition, writing, “COLOR ME MINE BDAY PARTIES SINCE ’95!!”
Other photos show Bella posing with what seems to be her artistic handiwork: a hamburger doubling as a piggy bank (is that cheese slice painted blue?). Gigi’s ceramic of choice appeared to be a funky bowl while Yolanda opted for a classic mug.
The childhood nostalgia doesn’t end there. The birthday fête, which transitioned from Color Me Mine to a private brunch at Sadelle’s, also included party hats, cupcakes, balloons, and a pizza-themed birthday cake.
Maybe Bella is just like the rest of us, after all. (I mean, if you overlook the fact that Alexander Wang was the one to send her the pizza cake.)
