Britney Spears Reportedly Asked Her Mom to Be a Part of Her Conservatorship

Britney Spears is reportedly looking to get some financial autonomy under her long-running conservatorship, and she's hopeful that her mom, Lynne Spears, can help.

A source for Entertainment Tonight divulged that the pop star asked her mom to be included in the court-appointed conservatorship, which Britney has been under since 2008. While her father, Jamie Spears, used to run the conservatorship, he stepped down last year and Britney's manager, Jodi Montgomerytook his place.

Recently, Lynne filed a request to be included in her daughter's finances, specifically Britney's SJB Revocable Trust, which the pop star filed in 2004 to protect her assets and to set up her two sons for the future, according to The Blast.

"Britney has always struggled with her mental health so Lynne's concern for Britney is never-ending. She is her mother and hates to see her suffer," an insider told ET. "Lynne filed for transparency to keep an eye on the finances because she knows Britney has her ups and downs. She has been doing much better; she is in regular therapy and exercising. Lynne sees a huge improvement."

The singer also trusts her mother to give her some financial freedom. "Britney trusts Lynne and has asked her mother to be part of her conservatorship," the source continued. "She truly believes that her mother wants to help her have more autonomy when it comes to her money. Britney is aware that how she is doing psychologically seems to directly correlate to her spending habits. She knows right now she might not be ready to be in complete control but she wants more freedom to spend how she pleases."

Additionally, the sourced added, "She feels her desires will be taken more seriously. She trusts her mother. They went through some tough times in their relationship but they are now closer than ever."

Fans have scrutinised Britney's conservatorship in recent months, taking her unconventional social media presence as a sign that she may be trapped by those legally tasked to be in charge of her finances and many personal decisions. ET's source spoke on the #FreeBritney movement, saying, "Britney's fans are constantly worried. [They] continue to post #FreeBritney #SaveBritney and petition for her to have her life back but the reality is she has a great life and just chooses to be home and private much of the time."

It seems the source was echoing what the pop star had already declared. In an Instagram post shared last weekend, Britney seemingly addressed her fans' concerns, wanting folks to know that she's just being Britney. "I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is Me being happy ….. this is Me being authentic and as real as it gets !!!!! I want to inspire people to do the same and just be themselves without pleasing others ….. that's the key to happiness 🌸🌸🌸🌸 !!!!!!" wrote the singer.
