Cristiano Ronaldo and girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez have arrived home with their baby girl, days after her twin brother, their newborn son, died.
On Instagram yesterday, the Portuguese soccer player announced that he and Rodríguez returned from the hospital by sharing the first public photo of his newborn daughter.
The picture, which also includes Ronaldo’s four other children—11-year-old Cristiano Jr., four-year-old twins Eva Maria and Mateo, and four-year-old Alana Martina—shows the dad cradling his newborn in his arms while seated next to a baby pink bassinet.
“Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us,” Ronaldo shared. “We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family. Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 “
The couple announced the death of their son in an emotional statement shared Monday.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” the joint statement read. “Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”
They continued, “We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
