David Beckham has undergone quite the transformation for his cameo role in a new adventure film, entitled King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

The director Guy Ritchie – a long-term friend of Beckham – didn’t hold back when it came to turning the former footballer into a badly scarred, balding knight (who wouldn’t in his position?). The unexpected look came complete with a fetching set of gold teeth.

Beckham confirmed he was playing a “grumpy knight” in the film back in a 2015 interview with The Times. His character is apparently called Blackleg Leader.

“I had 13 lines and practised a huge amount beforehand,” said Beckham. “Guy had someone come and rehearse with me, and I did that an hour every day in the build-up.”

Charlie Hunnam plays the title role in the film, which will be released later this year. The cast also includes Jude Law and Eric Bana.
