The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Announce Summer Tour Of Poland And Germany

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced a five-day official visit to Poland and Germany in July. Kensington Palace confirmed the news on their official Twitter page with the post: "The Duke and Duchess will tour Poland and Germany from 17-21 July visiting Warsaw, Gdansk, Berlin, Heidelberg and Hamburg."

It is believed that the trip is part of the royal couple's unofficial duties as Brexit ambassadors, as they attempt to maintain and strengthen the UK's relations with Europe as it prepares to leave the EU.

Kate and William will begin their trip on17 July in Poland's capital Warsaw, and end their diplomacy visit in the German city of Hamburg on 21 July.

The Duke and Duchess will also visit Gdansk in Poland, Berlin, and Heidelberg.

Fans and well-wishers are keen to know whether Prince George or Princess Charlotte will be taken along on the state visit too, but Kensington Palace has so far declined to comment.

After a recent visit to Paris with William, Kate also made a solo overseas trip to Luxembourg last month to strengthen ties between the UK and Europe. During the trip, she joined Luxembourg's prime minister Xavier Bettel for an event commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of London.

This upcoming visit to Germany will mark the first for Kate as a member of the royal family, and will be the royal couple's first tour of Poland on behalf of the government.

Kensington Palace will release further details of their planned trip at a later date.
