It remains unconfirmed how exactly the two met, but an Us Weekly insider reports that the two share mutual friends and bonded for several years before embarking on their relationship.

"Emily has known Sebastian for years," the source tells the outlet in March 2018. "They were all in a friend group. … He wasn't a stranger."

February 23, 2018: They swiftly tie the knot.

After just nine days of dating, the two exchange vows in a New York City courthouse and surprise intimate ceremony. The model announces the news on her Instagram Stories with a selfie of her with Bear-McClard, writing, "Sooo, I have a surprise, I got married today."

Ratajkowski spills details about Bear-McClard's proposal on The Tonight Show in April 2018, telling host Jimmy Fallon that her new husband informally popped the question to her on a date night at Minetta Tavern in New York City—and that she had made her decision on the spot to say yes.

"I thought about it for about 30 seconds," the model says. "It was a City Hall courthouse wedding. I guess I didn't know what I always wanted to do, which is maybe why it was so untraditional."

She continues, "He didn't have a ring, so I was like, 'Mmm, nah.' And then, he took the paper clip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring, which I actually thought was really romantic."

For sentimentality, she and Bear-McClard also decide to DIY their real wedding rings, with the model saying, "We walked into Chinatown and bought, like, an ounce of gold. And he was like, 'We'll melt down the gold to make the rings.'"

She adds, "I just feel like making it yourself, like, how could you be more personal?"

March 3, 2018: They debut on the red carpet.

The two make their first joint red-carpet appearance as a married couple at the 33rd annual Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica.

"Emily looked so in love with her husband. She kept staring at him smiling and was touching his face a lot," E! News reports. "Emily rested her head on his shoulder and really looked truly happy."

March 25, 2018: They honeymoon in the Utah desert.

A month after their wedding, the pair enjoys a steamy honeymoon at the luxurious Amangiri Resort in Canyon Point, Utah.

November 7, 2018: Ratajkowski defends her relationship.

Ratajkowski addresses criticisms surrounding the quick progression of her relationship with Bear-McClard on Busy Tonight.

"We knew each other for a long time before, and he likes to joke, 'Yeah, everyone thinks we got married quickly, but you vetted me for two years,'" she tells host Busy Philipps on her talk show.

February 23, 2019: They celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

The two grace the carpet again at the 35th Film Independent Spirit Awards, where Uncut Gems—which Bear-McClard produced—is nominated for Best Feature.

October 26, 2020: Ratajkowski announces her pregnancy.

The model announces her pregnancy with a cover shoot and video montage, two and a half years after her wedding. "Grateful & growing," the model also wrote on Instagram.

"I dreamed of you for the first time the other night. We were wondering who you will be. One day soon, so very soon, your presence will be real," she captions an Instagram post featuring a video montage documenting her pregnancy progress.

March 8, 2021: She gives birth to their son.

The two welcome their baby boy, Sylvester Apollo Bear.
