Eva Mendes Says That Falling In Love With Ryan Gosling Made Her Want To Have Children

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have a notoriously private relationship, but the actress has opened up in a rare interview where she gushes about how falling in love with him was the reason she wanted to have children.

Mendes explained that starting a family was the "furthest thing" from her mind, until she met Gosling.

"Ryan Gosling happened," Mendes told Women's Health when asked what changed her mind about starting a family. "I mean, falling in love with him. Then it made sense for me to have not kids, but his kids. It was very specific to him."

The couple have two little girls, Esmeralda, who was born in 2014 and Amada, born in 2016.

Mendes also went on to explain that she couldn't raise them without the help of the family they have around them.

"We have an amazing support group: Ryan's mom, my mom, Ryan's and my sisters. It's a village that helped us. My heart goes out to women who do this alone. I basically come from a single-parent household; although I love my dad, my mom mostly raised four of us on her own."

Although Gosling has also remained very quiet about their relationship, he did thank Mendes in his Golden Globes acceptance speech in 2017.

"I would like to try to thank one person properly and say while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with her second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," he said."If she hadn’t have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So sweetheart, thank you."
