After the fun show, Kim and her girl squad seemingly flew to New York City (likely on Kim's private jet, Kim Air), where fashion's biggest night will take place tonight. When they arrived at their hotel, they were met with a surprise: Their suite was entirely adorned with white roses, candles, and a silver balloon sign that read: "Karl Lagerfeld Met Gala." Per Kim, her eldest daughter, North West, planned the in-suite spa experience for the group. "How sweet is North for surprising me tonight with this for us to relax before the Met," Kim wrote over an Instagram Story clip of the decorated room.

Despite initial rumors that she would not be invited to the Met Gala this year, Kim is, in fact, attending. The shapewear mogul was a longtime friend of former Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld—whom the fashion event is honoring tonight. When he died on February 19, 2019, Kim shared a message on social media mourning the loss. "We lost a true legend!!!! You were such an inspiration to the world! You shot my first fashion shoot and I was so nervous to work with such an icon!" she wrote on Instagram alongside a series of photos with Lagerfeld. "The world is so much chicer because you existed! I am beyond honored to have met you and had the opportunity to work with you. You are so loved and will be so missed 💔," she added at the time.
