Prince Harry's bombshell memoirSpare, illuminates the tension between Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, in the early days of the Sussexes' marriage.

In an excerpt translated from the Spanish-language version of the memoir and obtained by NBC News, Harry writes that Meghan and Kate had a falling out after Meghan told her sister-in-law that she had "baby brain," a colloquial term that refers to the "memory problems, poor concentration and absent-mindedness" some experience during and after pregnancy, per the Mayo Clinic.

Harry writes that Meghan remembered suggesting that Kate had "baby brain" after the Princess of Wales said she forgot something inconsequential, a comment that angered the royal. Meanwhile, Meghan felt confused by Kate's upset reaction, saying that her remark was how she spoke with friends.

Kate and Meghan, as well as their respective husbands, Prince William and Harry, attempted to patch up the argument over tea at Kensington Palace in June 2018, just a month after Meghan and Harry tied the knot.

Kate, who had recently given birth to Prince Louis, demanded that Meghan apologize to her, allegedly saying, "You talked about my hormones. We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones!"

Harry writes that the "offended" royal was so upset that she gripped her chair tightly enough that her fingers turned white.

In the excerpt, the Duke of Sussex claims that William pointed his finger at Meghan, saying that she made a "rude" comment that was not appropriate in Britain. In response, Meghan told her brother-in-law to "take your finger out of my face."

The exchange is one of several fraught encounters between Meghan and the Waleses documented in Spare.

In another passage, per Page Six, Harry talks about the highly publicized incident in which Kate allegedly made Meghan cry days before her and Harry's wedding.

Kate had texted Meghan about a "problem" with Princess Charlotte's flower girl dress, saying that the dress was "too big, long and baggy," and that the little royal "burst into tears when she tried it on." Meghan told Kate to bring Charlotte to the palace, where a tailor could perform the necessary alterations to her dress. But Kate told the bride-to-be that all the bridesmaid dresses needed to be completely remade, with just four days left before the wedding. The royal then cited the advice of her own wedding dress designer, Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton, who agreed that the dresses had to be redone.

Ultimately, Kate took Charlotte to get her dress altered by the tailor, but Harry writes that he later found his soon-to-be wife in tears "on the floor" following their argument. The duke also shares that Kate apologized the next day with flowers and a card.
